Meanings of words as used on this website:

Accredited – approved, good,

Agency – company, office, department

Appeal – ask for help to try again

Applicant – a person trying to get a service from SILS

Assessment – a way to find out about what people need and want

Eligible – allowed to be chosen

Eligibility criteria - a set of rules that shows how a person is chosen for the SILS service

HUB – this is a central office in Torbay where all application forms are sent to and held.

Processing – dealing with

Professionals – examples are Social workers, care managers, probation officers etc.

Referral – paperwork that gives details of a person wanting a service

SILS Selection and Allocation policy – guidelines about how SILS chooses applicants and how places at SILS are given out

Service User – a person who is having a service from SILS

Signposting – guiding people towards other services

Stakeholder – professionals in a person’s life who may hold funding (money)

Supporting People – a Government organisation that pays money to run services like SILS for people who need support

Tenant – a person who pays rent to SILS
